Hazel Coppicing at Heavy Oak Coppice, Thornton Wood.
Meet at 9.30 a.m. at the bridge over the M53 on Thornton Common Road
A variety of woodland skills will be in use, for we will be cutting a six year old
hazel coppice for hedging stakes and other uses. The coppicing will benefit the spring

Previously a Ranger at Wirral Country Park Thurstaston, Jeff is currently the Wildspace Officer for Halton Borough Council, managing local reserves and being involved with the educational and promotional aspects of the natural environment. He also guides wildlife holidays and is a keen photographer. He is an enthusiastic and popular speaker.

Turning of the Tide; Rob Smith.
Room B, Heswall Hall, 7.30 p.m. £2 (£1 concessions).
Rob is a Ranger with Halton Borough Council, responsible for managing several sites in west Widnes including Pickering’s Pasture Nature Reserve, Hale Duck Decoy and other satellite sites. He has over thirty years experience in ecology, conservation and reserve menagement. His talk will be a short history of the Mersey and its Estuary from the Industrial Revolution to the present day, with the emphasis very much on modern times.
